Triple bill of films starring Ginger Rogers, now chiefly remembered for her work with Fred Astaire. These films show another side to her talents. In 'Heartbeat' (1946), Rogers (who was 35 at the time) plays an 18-year-old female reform school escapee who joins a pickpocket academy in Paris. On her first attempt at stealing, she is caught red-handed by an aristocratic gentleman. He recruits her to do him a favour at a swanky society ball where she meets and falls head-over-heels with a young diplomat. Will love save the day? In 'A Shriek in the Night' (1933), Rogers and Lyle Talbot play rival newspaper reporters who are always trying to outscoop each other. When a series of murders are committed in an apartment building, the two rivals join forces to find the killer. Finally, 'The Thirteenth Guest' (1932), a family reunion for the reading of a will is followed by multiple murders committed by a hooded figure. Rogers plays a potential heiress and Talbot is the dashing detective assigned to the case.
