Rose was adopted from an orphanage in China - she asks questions about her past and is given information by her mother when they look together at photographs of her as a baby. Rose is bullied at school because she looks different and is supported by one of her friends. Rose finds Mothers Day evokes difficult feelings not only for her but some of her friends too. This book explores how important it is for adopted children to receive information about their origins and how an event such as Mothers Day can trigger difficult feelings which need to be acknowledged and supported by adults.
