BECOMING A MEMBER

Membership of the library service is free if you work, reside or study in North Ayrshire. You can join at any North Ayrshire library presenting the following proof of your ID:

2 showing your name and address, e.g., utility bill or

1 photographic ID, e.g., driving licence, and 1 showing name and address

Please note:

If you are under 16  parents/carers (including grandparents/other relatives aged over 16) will need to come to the library to complete a membership form for you.

If you would like to use your National Entitlement Card (NEC) as ID, you will need to visit the library in person to complete your library membership form as we can scan the card to access your details.

Proof of age is required if you are applying as a member over the age of 60.

JOIN ONLINE

You may join the library online by clicking on the button below, after you have read and accepted the membership conditions.  If you wish to borrow physical items bring your ID as stated above along to your local library where we will provide you with a borrower card.

BECOMING A DIGITAL MEMBER ONLY

•  Register online (as above) and you will be sent a membership number which will be preceded by ON0 which can immediately be used to access eBooks, audio and digital magazines, there is no requirement for ID and a card unless you wish  you borrow physical items or use the pcs.

•6 eBooks can be downloaded for 3 weeks and 6 eAudiobooks downloaded for 2 weeks and both can be renewed three times using BorrowBox. You can also reserve eBooks/eAudiobooks out on loan

•You can have unlimited access to magazines and newspapers for 90 days using Press Reader.

CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP

•To borrow physical items, you must present your library membership card at any North Ayrshire library, and they can be returned to any North Ayrshire library.

•Books and taped books may be borrowed for four weeks, and you can borrow up to 12 items.

•Items can be renewed twice at any North Ayrshire library. Staff are happy to renew items over the telephone during opening hours, please have your library card number on hand. If a reservation has been placed on an item you have on loan, a renewal is not permitted.

•A reservation service is available for those items which are on loan, or available at another North Ayrshire library. You can place your own reservations for most items via the online catalogue.

•Overdue notices are a courtesy reminder for your convenience.

•All costs incurred by the library due to items lost or damaged whilst in your care must be reimbursed.

•Membership may be suspended if you have overdues items and outstanding charges.

•If you change your name, address or email please notify us immediately.

•Please report lost cards to the library immediately. You will be held responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported

•Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.
